Itinerary

Day 1Arrival Cape Town

On arrival at Cape Town International Airport, you will be met by our representative and transferred to the Victoria & Alfred Hotel at the Waterfront your base for the following 5 days.

The Victoria & Alfred Hotel is a superb harbour location with close proximity to Cape Town’s top tourist attractions. There is no better position where to soak in the natural beauty of our Mother City and the very essence of Cape Town living at its best.

This sophisticated and characterful venue, set right on the Pierhead of the V&A Waterfront, has sweeping views of the harbour, the city and the mountain. Built-in 1904 as the North Quay Warehouse and converted in 1990 to a 94-room luxury hotel. The Victoria & Alfred Hotel is popular with guests and there is a very good reason why it is often called ‘Your home in the heart of the Waterfront’. The ambience of colonial Cape Town is apparent as you step into the foyer, and historical touches abound, such as the information on various shipwrecks around the Cape coast. The hotel has two restaurants and a bar with outstanding views of the mountain and the harbour, as well as excellent spa facilities. It is renowned for its high level of service to both business and leisure travellers, and guests can make use of the travel consultancy, the valet service, a childminding service, a secretarial service and hotel transfer services.

The rest of the day is at leisure to get ready for your first adventure tomorrow morning.

We suggest you explore the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront in the afternoon.

Enjoy the incredible views from atop Table Mountain, and after descending, we take a scenic coastal drive through Camps Bay, Clifton, and Sea Point. We drive past the Cape Town Stadium and through the V&A Waterfront to the city center where we visit Green Market Square. We’ll stretch our legs with a walk through the Company Gardens.

Step out onto the flora and fynbos-framed trails to explore our staggeringly beautiful setting, with iridescent sunsets that are known as the best in Cape Town. Our complimentary shuttle service to Camps Bay and V&A Wate.

The tour continues with a drive past the Houses of Parliament, the City Hall, The Castle, and the Slave Lodge, before entering the “Bo Kaap”, also known as the Malay quarter. Learn about the history of this area of brightly painted houses and quaint cobbled streets. We finish with a dazzling diamond tour before returning to your hotel.

The rest of the afternoon is at leisure. In the Afternoon you may embark on a Robben Island Tour to see the cell where the South African prisoner icon, Nelson Mandela spent 27 Years incarcerated. The boat cruise departs from the Waterfront.

The following day you will head out on a scheduled full-day Cape peninsula tour, which takes you to Cape Point along the scenic Atlantic seaboard coastal road. We will pass the pristine beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay and the formidable 12 Apostles Peaks. We make our way to Hout Bay, over Chapman’s Peak, which offers amazing photo opportunities, and onto the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. Day 8Cape Town Kruger National Park

After a leisurely breakfast at your hotel followed by check-out procedures, it is time to wave goodbye to Table Mountain as you are transferred to Cape Town Airport for your scheduled domestic flight to Skukuza Airport in Mpumalanga. – and where the lodge’s team will be waiting to welcome you and transfer you together with fellow guests to Hoyo Hoyo Safari Lodge for the Ultimate bush experience.

The lodge is located in a private concession within the iconic Kruger National Park, which means away from the crowds of the Kruger Park, giving you a sense of exclusivity in the area. Distinct thatched peaks that peep over the tree line and flashes of burnt orange through lush Leadwood trees signal guests’ arrival at Hoyo Hoyo Safari Lodge, set on the banks of the Mluwati River in the heart of the Kruger National Park.

Hoyo Hoyo Safari Lodge is a small accommodation with only 6 circular air-conditioned Tsonga homesteads with traditional earth-coloured walls and tapered thatched reed roofs.
Tsonga tradition runs throughout these comfortable homesteads; the warm glow of brightly coloured walls, traditional ornaments, and little embellishments on lamps, door handles, and mirrors bring this local culture to life.

Around 15h30 gather for a decadent High tea during which you will be introduced to your ranger who will share great pointers on how to spot the wild animals in the bush. After your briefing, Board on the lodge 4 x 4 Open Landcruiser before setting off on your first wildlife safari drive. The absence of windows and the elevated vantage position allow for excellent photographic opportunities. You will have an amazing chance not only to view the game but also to listen to and smell the African bush and its denizens.

While on Game Drive, you will stop for Sundowners at a magnificent location and toast the splendour of Africa as you watch the sunset. As darkness falls, nocturnal animals of the bush get excited as they celebrate “their dawn” and come out. Your skilled Tsonga tracker will scan the landscape using a spotlight, which illuminates the animals’ eyes. A variety of completely different species can be seen on the night drive back to the lodge. Arrival at the lodge is usually around 7 pm, allowing time to freshen up before enjoying dinner around a campfire with the sounds of the crackling fire and night noises discussing the afternoon highlights with your ranger, and planning for tomorrow’s safari.

Day 6 - 7On the Safari in the Mluwati Private Concession

Wake up to the hissing of hundreds of crickets preparing for a warm bush day, and enjoy tea or coffee together with muffins, and rusks… before setting off on your morning game drive.

The game drive traverses the bush on The Private concession’s land, following the spoor and scent of nocturnal animals and avoiding trees that have been trampled by elephants, but sticking predominantly to the dirt roads that make their way through the bush. Returning from the morning game drive, guests are treated to a hearty “bush feast” on the deck.

Your days at Hoyo Hoyo Safari will be spent exploring the wilderness of the African bush on early morning game drives on 4×4 open safaris vehicles accompanied by an experienced field guide and a tracker. Scan the textured open plains and the bushy scrub where the Big 5 reside.

Lunch is served in one of the many dining areas around 14h00. Then it is siesta time or enjoys lazing beside the swimming pool or browsing the curio shop for African souvenirs of your Kruger tour.

Late afternoon brings with it another game drive and the chance to spot nocturnal creatures who rule the night.

When not tracking the fascinating wildlife of the Kruger National Park, relax on your private deck looking out onto the bush, take a long, leisurely shower in the open air, or melt into your comfortable king-size bed for an afternoon siesta. It’s your relaxing, informal bush experience on your terms.

The evening will be rounded off with a three-course dinner in the boma around a roaring African fire or in the dining area. It is time to swap the day sighting tales with fellow guests and make new friends.

Your accommodation for the following 3 nights is at Ilala Lodge Hotel, a family-run hotel ideally located to give guests easy access to all the historical sites, restaurants, and activities available in Victoria Falls. It is a mere eight-minute walk from Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.

Once at the hotel, enjoy Welcome drinks.

This afternoon you will be picked up for your scheduled sunset cruise along the mighty Zambezi River. On this cruise, you will sail up the mighty Zambezi River as the sun goes down, so you can immerse yourself in the natural delights of the golden Zimbabwean sunset. It is a superb way to relax and enjoy the spectacular beauty of the River and offers great photo opportunities against often-spectacular African sunsets. Flocks of birds skim the waterline as the sun sets behind the African skyline. Expect to see a variety of games such as hippo, crocodile, and elephant as well as many different bird species.
