While on Game Drive, you will stop for Sundowners at a magnificent location and toast the splendour of Africa as you watch the sunset. As darkness falls, nocturnal animals of the bush get excited as they celebrate “their dawn” and come out. Your skilled tracker will scan the landscape using a spotlight, which illuminates animals’ eyes. A variety of completely different species can be seen on the night drive back to the lodge. Return to the lodge is usually around 7 pm, allowing time to freshen up before enjoying dinner. Your guide has an intimate knowledge of the park, which contributes a great deal towards brilliant wildlife sightings. Return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast/brunch, after which the rest of the day is at leisure, relaxing in your room or by the pool and dipping into a good book or enjoying the rest of the lodge’s facilities.

In between Game drives, guests are welcome to take part in walking safaris which will provide them with an opportunity to experience the beauty and fascination of Africa’s flora and fauna. Alternatively, you can laze by the pool or indulge in a spa treatment. While adults are enjoying quality time indulging in body massages and other spa treatments at the lodge, the children will be busy soaking up the sun by the pool or busy with the chef in the kitchen learning how to make their favourite pizza and more.

Around 15h30 gather with fellow guests for high tea in preparation for your afternoon game drive during which your experienced guide will go through your wildlife Wishlist to find out what hasn’t been ticked yet, but you may also be lucky that by your second game drive your wildlife expectations have already been met and exceeded. Enjoy your afternoon game drive with stops for Sundowner to stretch your legs and witness the African sunset.
Back again at the lodge after an exhilarating afternoon of unforgettable bush life. Get ready for dinner and time to discuss the day’s highlights with fellow guests and rangers and make new friends. After yet another evening under the African stars, enjoy your last night in the bush.

You can take a canoe and walking safari to visit the local market and learn about the traditional life in villages, and guided historical tours of Ilha – OR one can simply relax and appreciate the breathtaking natural landscapes or take advantage of the many exciting experiences included in the package.
The lodge offers a wide variety of complimentary activities -both water and bush – for the intrepid explorer or active sportsperson. Young and old will never be bored during their stay at Coral Lodge Mozambique Island. Below is a list of complimentary activities to do while on the Island

Private Family Dining Experience
Have your dinner served in a private area where you can enjoy the culinary food especially made for you.

Visit to Ilha de Mozambique
A short 30-minute dhow takes you to Ilha de Mozambique, the former capital of Mozambique, and is the only UNESCO World Heritage site in Mozambique which is over 300 years old and rich with character and history.
A visit to Ilha de Mozambique is a ‘must’ during your stay at Coral Lodge. The former capital of Mozambique was built by the Portuguese; it still has echoes of its colonial past.
There are views of Sao Sebastiao Fort (1558) on the north of the island from Coral Lodge. This fort and many other colonial buildings are remnants of a bygone era but still preserve that history. Explore the city at your own pace or let our local guide show you around and explain the island’s controversial past.

Visit the local Macua people
An opportunity for the children to learn about the history of the local people as well as a thing or two regarding their culture – for instance, have an insight into the daily life of the Macua tribe of northern Mozambique.
The family can visit three local communities: Cabaceira Pequena, Cabaceira Grande and Chocas. Most of the Coral Lodge staff live in Cabaceira Pequena and walk or canoe to the Lodge each day. The family can visit one of their houses, as well as the Vasco da Gama, Well and the graves and ruins of an Arab community from the 12th century.

African Cooking
Join our chef and learn to cook his favourite Mozambican dishes at the lodge

A snorkel in the lodge’s lagoon is a must for every guest! You can see a wide variety of
colourful fish and coral just yards from the lodge. Go with our experienced dive guide for an underwater safari and learn more about the hundreds of fish including banner and pipe fish, nudibranch, lion and box fish and all kinds of other reef fish.

Canoeing and Paddle Boarding: Experience paddle boarding and canoeing in our sea lagoon and explore the mangroves in crystal clear water. Find the birds, mangrove crabs and other animals on your own or with the help of one of the local guides.

Below is the list of children’s complementary activities:

Coral pool exploration
The lodge’s guide will take the children on a marine safari. They will learn all about the sea creatures living in the pools around the lagoon surrounding the lodge

Shell jewellery
An original way to keep the shells you found on the beach is to make them into a necklace or bracelet.

There is a small playground for kids to enjoy.

Mangrove canoe trip
Perfect for a family canoe safari where you can explore the mangroves.

Snorkelling lessons
Learn to snorkel in the laguna and take an exciting snorkelling trip to one of the islands.
