Kenya is arguably the most famous East African Safari destination – most likely by virtue of its bygone days of decadent colonial lifestyles immortalised in colourful books and movies like “Out of Africa” and “White Mischief”. It’s also one of the favourite areas to watch the world-famous Great Migration that takes place every year (Maasai Mara) and it’s recognised as one of the premier ‘beach and bush’ safari and seaside destinations.

The intrigue and adventure of Kenya reaches back into the birth of mankind, stretches along miles of white sand beaches and journeys into dense forests and divergent deserts. Iconic landmarks such as Mount Kenya stand above the savannah plains and tropical woodlands while its intricate waterfalls lie nestled within the montane foothills. Cool breezes drift across the Indian Ocean to refresh your soul in the country’s many coastal towns and islands. From her highest peaks to her deepest ocean depths, Kenya gives you an African dream trip of a lifetime!

Kenya combines easily with Tanzania and Rwanda, which means you can add gorilla trekking to your Kenyan safari. You’ll also find a wide range of safari and beach combination tours to make the most of Kenya’s Out of Africa scenic beauty and wildlife, rounded off with a stay on a tropical island. Kenya offers a holiday for every traveller.

From unforgettable Kenya family safaris that offer child-friendly activities and services, to exclusive hideaways for romantics, from adventurous honeymoons to small groups of friends and family celebrating a milestone anniversary.

Whatever type of traveller you are, there’s not much that beats a Kenya holiday – the standards of service are high, and Kenya’s top destinations offer luxury accommodation ranging from lavish, colonial-style lodges to funky boutique hotels and amenity-packed resorts.

Best time to visit Kenya

Considered home to some of the best – if not the best world’s magnificent wildlife destinations! Its parks, reserves and private conservancies are home to some of the highest and most diverse populations of wildlife on the planet. Traveling across vast landscapes bathed in soft morning light, your African dreams unfold before your eyes.

One of the best times to visit Kenya is from July to October, during the country’s dry season, which also coincides with the Great Migration of wildebeest and zebra, a truly magical spectacle – and it is school holiday time across much of Europe making it easier and suitable for a family safari. This time of the year is considered Peak season.

Because Kenya is not only about experiencing the Great Migrations, the best time to visit Kenya also depends on whether you’re interested in exploring other locations such as Mount Kenya, Mombasa for the beach Or history at Lamu Island and more.

But Kenya is a year-round destination, with good game viewing throughout the year.

Most Kenya safari destinations are at their best from January to March; the climate is mild; mostly dry and game viewing is at its peak as vegetation is sparser and wildlife easier to spot. This time is considered High Season.

Less popular time to visit is during the long rains season occurring from April to June.

The rainy season period is worth considering taking advantage of off-season rates on accommodation and tours and to avoid the high and peak-season crowds.

November – December’s short rains cause less disruption and refresh the vegetation.
