You will reach Bwindi in the late afternoon, check in Ruhija Gorilla Friends Lodge, a local community-owned and run accommodation located just 500m from the gorilla briefing point. In the evening, you will head out for a community walk where you will visit the Batwa, which is an Indigenous group of people that has lived in the forest for 500,000 years, enjoy traditional dances and drama from them and learn a thing or two about their daily lives and traditions. The next morning after breakfast, we prepare for our gorilla tracking adventure which begins at 7:00am with a briefing at the information centre by the Uganda Wildlife Authority staff. We will then be guided into the jungle to track the shy primates. Gorilla tracking may take 3 to 7 hours, but it is well worth the effort. Once you get sight of the gorillas, you have an hour to admire, observe and take photos of them. It’s advisable to bring along a rain jacket and hiking boots.

Day 3 - 4Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park - Game Drive

Driving time: ± 5h30 hours

The distance from Bwindi to Ishasha is about 3 hours and from Ishasha to Queen Elizabeth is about 2 hours. Today is an early rise for departure from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will depart with packed breakfast, relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery along the route.

Ishasha Sector located in the southwestern rim of Queen Elizabeth national park is our first stop because it is notably recognized for its resident Tree climbing lions. This area is also of particular interest because of its magnificent landscape dominated by savannah woodland tree species like the huge fig and acacia trees which provide shelter for the lions during the sunny season.

In addition, there is a strategic reason for the lions finding refuge on top of trees because from that vantage point, they have a clear view of their prey such as antelopes which will be grazing in the opened savannah plains below them. Hence visitors to the park flock in numbers to this area in a bid to spot the climbing lions and these big cats are an exceptional attraction and one of the highlights on all safaris taken within Queen Elizabeth National Park.
We will stop for lunch and later continue the game drive in the Queen Elizabeth National Park known for its abundant wildlife, including African elephant, African buffalo, herds of Ugandan kobs, hippopotamus, topi, waterbuck, warthog, giant forest hog, Nile crocodile, leopard, spotted hyena, the chimpanzee. Overall, the park is home to 95 mammal species and over 600 bird species.

After another day of spectacular wildlife spotting, we check will in at Queen Elizabeth bush lodge our home for the following 2 nights. Named after Queen Elizabeth II, this lodge is situated inside the famous national park and is considered the ideal location from which to explore the magnificent surroundings. Dinner and Overnight at the lodge.

The following morning, after breakfast, enjoy an early morning game drive hoping to witness a kill as big mammals take advantage of the cooler temperatures at this time of the day to hunt for their meals. We will also be enjoying the many other wildlife and bird species which call this park home. We drive back to the lodge for a hot lunch.
In the afternoon, it is time for the spectacular boat cruise safari on the Kazinga channel which connects Lake Edward and Lake George. Some of the best wildlife viewings are done on a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, passing squacco herons, pied kingfishers, large numbers of buffalo and hippo, basking crocodiles and very many different bird species and large mammals.
This is one of the most memorable experiences from the park as over 300 hippos are found wallowing in the lake. After the boat ride, relax and enjoy all the amenities on offer at this famous lodge and later have Dinner.
