Day 2 - 3Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, you will be collected for your transfer to Arusha Airport in time for your scheduled flight to Tarangire National Park. On arrival at Kuro airstrip the camp’s team will be in attendance and you will be driven to Tarangire Ndlovu Tented Camp, a journey of around 40mn, seat back and enjoy the game drive transfer.

Tarangire Ndovu Tented Lodge is located in the heart of Tarangire, Tanzania’s wild land and landscapes. Elephant herds meander right past the tent on their historical migration paths in search of water and feeding grounds.
The lodge is open all year around and offers 12 permanent tents including two family Suites.
Tarangire is famous for its huge herds of elephants, breathtaking landscapes with ancient baobab trees, acacia woodlands, and massive termite mounds that dot the landscape. Those that have been abandoned are often seen to be home to dwarf mongooses.

The name of the park originates from the Tarangire river that crosses through the park, being the only source of water for wild animals during dry seasons. During the dry season, thousands of animals migrate to the Tarangire National Park from Manyara National Park.
Visitors to the park are expected to see large herds of elephants of up to 300, zebra, giraffe, impala, eland and warthog all come to quench their thirst in the park. Predators, including lions and spotted hyenas, gather around the river ready to strike, while leopards, cheetahs and even tree-climbing lions, can also be found in certain areas of the park. African wild dogs have been sighted in the park, although it is rare to spot them.

Home to more than 550 species, the park is a haven for bird enthusiasts who can expect to see dozens of species even in the dry season. The swamps are the focus of the largest selection of breeding birds anywhere in the world. Yellow-collared Lovebirds are a common bird sighting in the trees along the Tarangire River as well as the ashy starling, northern pied babbler, and bushveld pipit.

Room Type: Two Bedroom Family Suite
Meal Basis: Full Board and two daily game drives

Day 4 - 6Serengeti National Park

This morning, after a leisurely breakfast, you will be transferred back to Kuro Airstrip for your scheduled flight to Serengeti National Park. Known as the mecca of national parks, Serengeti is one of Africa’s most iconic safari destinations and is famed for its prolific wildlife and the great Wildebeest migration. It is the largest wildlife sanctuary in the world because it has the largest concentration of big mammals in the world among other leopards, cheetahs, elephants, pride of lions, impalas, giraffes, hippos, warthogs and over 500 bird species, this is a wildlife viewing paradise. Beyond the incredible Great Wildebeest Migration that moves through the area seasonally, the Serengeti is an incredibly beautiful park with diverse flora and fauna.

Your accommodation in the park is at Serengeti Sojourn Mobile Camp, a Semi-permanent Tented Camp which migrates with the herds, it follows the wildebeest migration around the Serengeti.
From the start of June to the end of October, the camp is located in the Togoro area, specifically Togoro 1, a 45-minute game drive from the Seronera airstrip. Migration herds spend ample time in the Togoro area before heading further north into Kogatende. The area is also well-known for its great sightings of cats and there are several kopjes (small hills) which provide spectacular viewing points.
The new location in the Togoro area means that Serengeti Sojourn now has premium accessibility to the main regions of Lobo, Central Serengeti and Kogatende. Once the migration has moved further north, the mobile camp will offer full-day game-drive experiences to track the wildlife all the way to the Mara River to witness the crossing of wildebeest and zebra.

From mid-December to the end of March, the camp is located in the Ndutu region, on a hilltop site – the perfect location from which to witness the migration and the wonders of the calving season. From this vantage point, stunning views of Lake Ndutu and iridescent sunsets can be absorbed too.
The choice of this mobile assures travellers that whatever their travel dates, they will be able to catch up with the wildebeest Migration if that is the highlight of their trip.
The absolute premier wildlife-viewing experience, Serengeti Sojourn offers guests the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness the Great Migration up close. This all-inclusive experience is the kind of safari holiday that dreams are made of.

Your days exploring the plains of Serengeti will be on classic Morning and afternoon Game Drives, returning back to the lodge for a hot lunch or on Full day game drives with a picnic lunch at a specific spot to enjoy the vastness of this incredible park.

Ensuring that children have an equally thrilling taste of Africa, the Rafiki Explorer Club is offered as an added value to families travelling with children aged 6 to 15 years. It is filled with fun, interactive activities that offer opportunities to learn and discover new experiences and cultures. Deeply rooted in the love for the African bush, it not only creates a series of unforgettable moments for the whole family but forges strong bonds between our young guests, our planet and its people.
These special guests become members of this club to keep them involved and entertained during their visit. The club is based at the camp and includes learning activities such as footprint tracking, animal-call identification, cooking and traditional African board games, to name a few. Children will have the delight of meeting Rafiki and his team who live at the camp. They will further be given an exciting hamper of gifts, including a custom-designed bag, and a personalised activity book packed with fun puzzles, games and wildlife lists.
Back again at the camp after an exhilarating afternoon or full day of unforgettable bush life and freshen up. In the evenings, watch the sky change into a blaze of colour as the sun sinks, whilst you’re sipping cocktails. Sit around the campfire, sharing the day’s viewing memories before dining under the stars at a large banqueting table.

Room Type: Family Tent
Meal Basis: Fully Inclusive: Full Board, soft drinks, house wines, local brand spirits and beers, teas and coffees, refreshments on lodge activities, laundry, safari activities at safari lodges, scheduled transfers between lodge airstrip and Camp.

Day 7 - 9Ngorongoro Crater

Today, it is time to bid a sad farewell to the vast plains of Serengeti because, after breakfast, a game drive transfer will deliver the family to the camp airstrip in time for their scheduled flight to Manyara airstrip.
On arrival there, you will be welcomed by the Farm’s team for your transfer to Gibb’s Farm, an idyllic Farmhouse located on the forested slopes of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, which provides a welcome stay for Tanzania safari-goers and a base from which to enjoy the many activities available in the foothills of the Ngorongoro Forest, The Ngorongoro Crater and Manyara National Park.
Ideally located, the Farm lies halfway between Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro Crater, near the village of Karatu – playfully named the ‘Safari Junction’ as it is the perfect spot for those who are interested in combining countryside living with an epic safari experience.

Gibbs farm offers a plethora of activities in and around the farm including visiting the nearby communities. Most of them are complementary (but required prior booking) and others are for a token fee. Together as a family, you can partake in the following:
– Rhythm of the farm activities:
Vegetable harvesting, coffee roasting, milking cows, collecting eggs; pig’s feeding; painting with the resident artist; exploring the coffee fields; Tembo fire tales.
– Village bicycle Tour: 1.5 hours (includes guide and water, minimum 2 guests)
– Mountain Bicycle Adventure: 2 hours (includes guide and water, minimum 2 guests)
– Garden, Forest and Medicinal walks
– Donate A-Desk: 2 to 3 hours for a school visit (made with love by Gibb’s Farm) – $75 per desk
– Cycling tour in Karatu Town and more
(We will gladly avail the list of activities on request).

This morning, it is time to descend into the Ngorongoro Crater which is the largest unfilled, intact, and inactive volcano in the whole world. This three-million-year-old caldera now shelters one of the most beautiful wildlife havens on earth. An estimated 25 000 large mammals are resident in this bowl of plenty, including a large population of lions. Cheetahs move in and out of the crater, while leopards are most often encountered in the spectacular Lerai Forest. Among the smaller carnivores, both golden and black-backed jackals are abundant, while the normally shy and nocturnal serval are frequently seen during daylight hours. Vast numbers of buffalo, zebra and Thomson’s gazelle can be seen grazing the crater.
The crater is also incredibly scenic, with towering euphorbia clinging to the crater walls, while fever and fig tree forests on the crater floor provide shade for an incredible array of wildlife. Black rhinos are protected within the crater rim, giant tusked elephants wander the forests, black-maned lions stalk the grasslands and flamingos crowd the soda lakes.

Room Type: Garden Cottage
Meal Basis: Full Board, Wi-Fi, return transfers from Lake Manyara Airport for stays of 2 nights or more as well as farm and local cultural activities are included in all stays.
