Day 2 - 4Explore Moremi Game Reserve

Start the day with an early morning wake-up call. Tea and coffee are waiting for you before embarking on a game drive to capture the beauty of the morning light and the start of a new day in this untouched wilderness.
The Moremi Game Reserve is located on the eastern side of the Okavango Delta and consists of pans, floodplains, lagoons, grasslands, forests of acacia trees, savannahs and dense mopane woodlands. Jutting into the Okavango Delta, the Moremi Game Reserve preserves the heart of Africa’s finest game-viewing region. Nowhere in southern Africa will better wildlife be found. Established by the BaTwana tribal authorities in 1963, this area protected the traditional hunting areas of the Delta. Well protected, the game reserve provides a refuge for a diverse population of African game.
This unique ecosystem, characteristic of the Okavango Delta, allows for a diverse spectrum of wildlife and coupled with effective protective measures results in huge herds of impala and tsessebe and in the dry season large herds of buffalo, wildebeest, elephant and zebra come into the reserve from the dry Kalahari Desert in search of both food and water. The sitatunga and lechwe live in the papyrus banks of the waterways with lions, cheetahs and packs of wild dogs hunting in the open grassland.
In addition to the big 5 and a vast array of other species of wildlife, Moremi is the home to nearly 500 species of bird (from water birds to forest dwellers.
Your knowledgeable and experienced guide will share the secrets of this unbelievable wilderness in the morning and afternoon activities.
For the following 3 days, you will experience this iconic game reserve in an open-sided safari vehicle, allowing you to absorb and experience sightings with all of your senses when up and close to wildlife. Your experienced game ranger will teach you about many aspects of nature and interpret wildlife behaviour for you in a unique way. He will also be receiving updates from other rangers in the area regarding animal movements.
During your stay, your guide will be taking you through different areas of the Moremi during your game drive while trying to locate any animals you might not have seen yet on safari. There will be ample time to try and meet any special requests that have been made and to laze about during the hot hours of the day.

In addition to 4 x 4 game drives, you will experience wildlife on foot during guided bush walks.
Spot wildlife and birds seating on a dugout canoe called “mokoro”, the traditional style canoes used to navigate the watery Okavango Delta of Botswana. Gliding on the tranquil waterways and lagoons in the untamed African bush, sit back and take in the wild environment, as your guide stands in the back of your mokoro poling the vessel along.
Weather permitting you will also be stargazing at night in the wilderness – you will be amazed by the wideness of the sky and the multitude of stars navigating on it. Stargazing will
also allows you to reconnect with Nature.
